Equip yourself with the latest science-based strategies for healing and transforming addiction.
Addiction remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in mental health today.
Depending on who you’re talking to, it’s either:
— A manifestation of developmental trauma
— A disease of the brain
— An attachment disorder
— A learning process
And—almost unbelievably—given the amount of evidence to the contrary in recent years, some continue to consider it a “moral failing”, brought about by a lack of self control.
The lack of a clear understanding about what addiction is, combined with outdated assumptions about the causes leads to confusion.
Which is contributing to a growing crisis in our society…
A report from the United Nations found that 35 million worldwide suffer from substance abuse disorders, while drug use is directly and indirectly responsible for 11.8 million deaths each year. Other statistics from the National Institute on Drug Abuse show relapse rates as high as 40-60% for those in treatment.
Worse still, addiction has one of the worst treatment outcomes when compared with other mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
And this leads us right into the heart of the issue…
A 2013 review found that out of 122 studies examining why addiction treatment fails, 96% focused on client factors only.
Unbelievably, almost all of these studies did not consider the role that treatment models play in relapse.
Which poses an important question:
Could it be that the underlying reason why addiction treatment has been so ineffective (until now), is not so much about the individuals receiving treatment?
Might it instead be our treatment models that are the problem?

Over the course of interviewing 40 world leading clinical psychologists, authors, and researchers in the addiction field for our Holistic Recovery Summit, a common theme emerged:
Addiction is a multidimensional phenomenon.
And to treat it effectively, we need to take a holistic approach—one which takes the whole person into account, including: mind, body, social, and spiritual factors.
This is why we’re developing The Holistic Recovery Course.
A revolutionary training program for mental health professionals interested in taking a multidimensional, evidence-based approach—one which considers human beings in their broadest possible context, and offers an integrative framework for understanding, assessing, and treating addiction.
With this training, our aim is to create the most comprehensive, useful, and engaging training resource available for healing addiction, enabling you to:
This course will equip you with a broad range of the latest science-based strategies for healing and transforming addiction (see the course content in the section below).
Addiction destroys not only the lives of those who suffer from it, but also the lives of the families and friends closest to them. By taking this training, you will be equipped to help your clients remove this suffering from their own (and their loved ones’) lives, giving them greater integrity, improved relationships, and ultimately helping them to reintegrate and contribute to the communities to which they belong.
This course will give you a thorough grounding in the bio-psycho-social processes underlying addiction, including the role of attachment, trauma, neurobiology, and dopamine. You’ll discover how best to assess clients and formulate effective treatment plans. It also will equip you with the latest science-based strategies for taking an integrative and multidimensional approach to addiction treatment.
Registering for the course will get you access to a community of like-minded and supportive therapists, who can help you thrive on your learning journey. The program is accredited by the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCIP), meaning you will receive a certificate worth more than 20 hours of CPD upon completion.
The course will take place online over a 4 month period, with one module being released each week for the duration.
You can choose to complete the course during the 4 months (and participate in the live experiential workshops) or at your own pace – depending on your preference.
** Please note: these modules are preliminary and subject to change, depending on the availability of teaching faculty. **
Participants will receive weekly ‘on-demand’, pre-recorded lectures which cover the key theoretical content, allowing you to watch each masterclass from the comfort of home, and implement what you learn at your own pace.
Each module in part 3 will contain footage from example sessions, which will show you leading experts putting the skills you are learning on the course into practice, in their one-on-one work with clients.
In these weekly interactive sessions, you’ll put the theoretical knowledge you are learning into practice with other practitioners. You’ll engage in lively discussion groups and reflective practices which will help you integrate the knowledge and build meaningful connections that go beyond this course.
Participants will receive downloadable video and audio recordings for each module, meaning you can download the recordings on your phone, iPod, iPad or computer and engage with them whenever you want.
This program qualifies you for over 20 hours of CPD. To claim your certificate, all you need to do is complete the multiple choice quizzes for each module with an average score of 80% or higher.
For each healing modality, you will receive implementation guidelines which will guide you through using the approach in session with clients. You will also receive reading recommendations for each module, and all course materials (handouts, worksheets, slides, etc.)
